We require family members and other "healthy support"  to become involved in the client's treatment process. Addiction is a family disease and it has an impact on everyone who is close to the addict. For this reason, anyone wishing to be involved in the recovery process at Rays of Sonshine- whether through phone calls, mail, visits or weekend overnights- must attend two family support meetings every month. For those living long distance, one of these required "supports" can be completed over the phone by the client's counselor.

Our evening "family support" meetings are open to the public and are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. at 616 North Third Street in Monroe. During these meetings we review program-specific rules as well as general guidelines for dealing with someone who is in active addiction. Participants learn to take care of themselves while avoiding "caretaking" the addict.

Families of current clients can attend family support meetings on Sundays at 10:30a.m., immediately prior to our church services.
